John Cuddy - Principal

John is from Kilnadeema, Loughrea, County Galway and has deep roots in Loughrea and the surrounding area of East Galway. John has over 10 years’experience in legal services in the Loughrea area and it surrounds having previously worked for VP Shields Solicitors and more recently Vincent Shields Solicitors in Athenry. During that time John developed skills in all areas of general practice, particularly Personal Injuries and Medical Negligence having worked for both Plaintiffs and Insurance Companies. John has extensive experience in general practice civil litigation including personal and fatal injuries, professional negligence, medical negligence and land and construction litigation.

John is also skilled conveyancer and works primarily in residential and agricultural conveyancing and in landlord and tenant law. He has a particular interest in Agricultural affairs including Environmental Law and European Regulation. He has recently successfully resolved high profile Judicial Review cases involving several commonages on the South County Galway Slieve Aughties Mountains. Such work involved a complex sequence of High Court Judicial Reviews, Applications to the EU Petitions Courts and representations to the European Commission. 

John is on the National Council of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmer Association (INHFA) and has represented the Organisation in the Oireachtas Agricultural Committee, various sub-Committees and before both the EU Directorate General Agriculture and EU Directorate General of Environment of the EU Commission. John is the current Treasurer of the Loughrea Chamber of Commerce and an executive officer of Kilnadeema Leitrim Hurling Club. He is also a Director of Naomh Breandans Credit Union, Loughrea. John is also a member of Loughrea Golf Club and enjoys travelling and countryside activities such as hillwalking.

Roisin Burke
Solicitor

Roisin Burke is a native of East Galway who grew up in Abbey, Loughrea, County Galway and went to school in Woodford, County Galway. Roisin qualified as a Solicitor in 2006. Since then she has worked extensively in key areas of general practice including conveyancing, wills and estate planning.

Roisin offers advice on all types of conveyancing matters including commercial, complex title, residential and landlord and tenant. In addition, Roisin has experience in all probate matters from Wills to administration of estates etc.

Carmel Lawless
Legal Executive

Carmel Lawless has many years’ experience in many areas of private practice. She previously worked for most of her career for James J Kearns Solicitors, Portumna until it closed in late 2017. Carmel has a wealth of local and legal knowledge. Carmel commenced with Cuddy & Company Solicitors in April 2018 and brings her knowledge of conveyancing, estate planning and probate to Loughrea.

Alina Georgescu
Legal Executive

Alina is originally from ancient city of Brasov, Romania but has lived in Loughrea for over 7 years. Alina initially worked with the Chamber of Commerce in Loughrea before joining Cuddy & Company Solicitors having worked with John in the Chamber. Alina has developed her skills as a legal secretary since she commenced her employment with John and has developed particular skills in employment law and personal injuries.
